Answer: The idea is to develop a WordPress plugin & dependent mobile applications that make it easy for creative people to promote their work on a self hosted WordPress based web site.

The plugin and mobile apps will be FREE when they are completed.

Instruction videos for use will also be posted. The WordPress plugin for use by web site owners will be on this site & in the WordPress plugin directory. The mobile apps will be placed in the appropriate platform app markets i.e. iTunes, Droid, etc.

2. Why do we need this plugin stuff?

Answer: This technology leverages automation and lets your web site server do the work. It also attracts a community of interested users with relevant sites & a community of mobile app users interested in creative content.

Search technology relies on relevance and linking on the internet… a web site having links to it from other sites with content that is relevant to its content.

Creative content is often one of a kind so acquiring these links can be difficult and time consuming. This technology will make it easy to setup and provide a network for your site content to be seen. The goal of this technology is to effectively gain exposure for web sites with creative content requiring a minimum amount of time, so artists can spend more time working on their work!

3. What if I don’t have a WordPress self hosted site?

Answer: The most effective way to gain a following for your work on the net is to have your own site. The best way to do that is to host it yourself because it gives you more options and control over your content.

I’ll be posting a regular stream of videos and tutorials on how to set up your own self hosted WordPress site on this blog. Please feel free to drop me questions on issues or problems you have setting up your own.

I’ve developed web sites professionally for more than 10 years and find WordPress the simplest, easy to use site management system around. It’s perfect for creative self promotion.

4. Why isn’t this site more interesting or creative?
Answer: This site is designed:

• to deliver tutorials & information for others to build their web sites for their creative projects
• for others to advertise to the creative community attracted by these tutorials and gain a backlink to their site.
• to provide a mechanism to generate revenue to support the development of the plugin & mobile app technology that will further support the creative community.

I designed it in as straight forward a manner as possible. I’m hoping to keep attention focused on the purpose of the site, and the creative people who find value in the technology.

5. Pixel ads are such an old idea. Why are you using pixel ads?
Answer: Pixel ads are a direct linking method, and the most space efficient method of providing an opportunity to many at a low price for the purpose of supporting this project.

6. You have space for $250,000 in pixels. Why do you need so much money?
Answer:

• The amount of ad space seemed reasonable for the site.
• The amount of pixels provides an opportunity for several hundred or thousand(s) of artists, creatives, or those wishing to advertise to that community, to place an ad & link back to their sites at a reasonable cost.
• I cannot accurately predict the actual development costs of all the components of this technology.
• I will need to outsource development of some parts of the project and will have ongoing expenses for server storage and bandwidth.
• I earn my living exclusively from my own creative projects, including some online projects. This permits me the flexibility to develop technical solutions, like this one, aimed at facilitating the goals of others in the creative community.

7. Why didn’t you post this project to a fundraising site like kickstarter.com?
Answer: Kickstarter is great! I actually did submit a proposal for this to kickstarter.com, but they declined citing web development projects are not a good fit for them.

8. Can I buy pixels if I don’t have a website yet?
Answer: It would be best to have your site registered and setup. You will be asked for your web site address and you cannot change the address later. You may want to get a new hosting account at Hostgator via my link. The commission we receive from this also helps to support the project.
